WARSAW — Columbia City’s boys swim team saw its season come to a conclusion at Saturday’s sectional.

The Eagles garnered 187 team points to finish fourth. Warsaw won the meet with 498.5 points.

Eagle coach Kristen Swonger was pleased with the performance overall of her team.

“I think the boys did a fantastic job,” she said. “We came in fourth overall with just a few swimmers and they swam great.”

The top finish for Columbia City was a pair of relay teams that came in fifth. The 200 freestyle relay group of Jared Mertz, Nathan Koch, Dayne Trump and Foster Eber grabbed fifth and the same squad of four swimmers also finished fifth in the 400 freestyle relay.

“Our relays all improved their times,” Swonger said. “It was a good way to end the season.”

Individually, the top finish was by Eber, who grabbed sixth in the 50 freestyle.

The state meet will be this weekend in Indianapolis. Advancement was earned by either placing first at sectionals or winning one of the wild card spots.
