Eagles knock off undefeated Knights
KENDALLVILLE — Columbia City’s golf team handed Northeast Hoosier Conference foe East Noble its first loss Tuesday night.
“The conference is loaded and we proved that we’re in the running and can play with the big boys,” Columbia City Head Coach Andrew Thompson said. “It’s great to knock off an undefeated team.”
The Eagles, now 2-3 in the NHC, shot a 158 to edge the Knights by four strokes, 158-162.
Columbia City’s score is a new low for the year.
“The way East Noble has been playing, it was great to get the win,” Thompson said. “We were able to get it done last night. It was a huge win on the road and a great effort by the guys. That’s what we need to have if we want to beat these tough teams in the NHC.”
Freshman Tyler Green matched East Noble’s Michael Sharp’s score of 37 to pace the Eagles.
