Paul Sade stepped in to replace Lee Etzler in 2013 after several years as an assistant. Etzler had led the Eagles for 11 years, including two regional championships and at least a share of the Northeast Corner Conference title over the past four years.
In the first year under Sade, though, âBusco appeared to pick up right where it left off. The Eagles post an 8-3 record. They just missed out on a share of the NECC championship, and were ranked in the top 10 in Class 2A for the entire season.
Sade said not winning the conference was a disappointment.
âIt was a tough season at times,â he said. âWe expected to win a conference championship. We didnât make that happen, and we had our opportunities to make that happen.â
After back-to-back losses to end the regular season, Churubusco roared out to a 28-13 sectional quarterfinal win over Eastside. Last Friday, the Eagles fell to 13th-ranked Bremen in a sectional semifinal contest, played in Bremen.
