Eagles fall to Westview

TOPEKA — Churubusco dropped out of the Northeast Corner Conference Tournament Wednesday night with a loss to the 10-1 Westview Warriors.
The Eagles faced Westview in their second game of the season and lost 47-31. Churubusco improved Wednesday night, only losing by an eight-point margin, 38-30.

The Eagles had a 6-5 lead at the end of the first quarter and matched Westview’s scoring in the second at eight to make a 14-13 score at halftime in favor of Churubusco.

The Warriors took over in the third quarter, outscoring ’Busco 15-6 and taking a 28-20 lead going into the fourth quarter.

The Eagles played an even match in the fourth quarter, with each team scoring 10 points to make the final score 38-30.

Tyler Arrowsmith led ’Busco in scoring at 10, followed by Chris Jones with nine. Austin Goepfrich chipped in six points, Dylan Jones tallied for and Josh LeFever had one point.

The Eagles are now 5-5. Churubusco will host the 5-4 Leo Lions Tuesday and travel to Angola next Friday.
