Eagle netters compete at Wawasee Saturday

September 10, 2013

SYRACUSE — Columbia City’s boys tennis team went 0-3 without a complete squad at the Wawasee Invitational Saturday.

Eagle No. 1 singles player Niko Rongos went 3-0 on the day to improve his record to 8-0 for the year.

He scored the lone victories for Columbia City in the match-ups against Fairfield and Jimtown.

In the match with the host-Warriors, Columbia City fell 3-2, losing the final match by forfeit to make the difference.

Rongos won the No. 1 singles match on a super 10 tie-break in the third set.

Columbia City senior Blake Fearnow scored a straight-set win at No. 2 singles for the Eagles.
