DYW holding recruiting

COLUMBIA CITY — A recruitment session is scheduled for potential participants for the 49th program of Distinguished Young Woman/Junior Miss Saturday.

The recruitment session is Sunday, May 19,. at 1:30 p.m. in the board room of the Whitley County Community Foundation, 400 N. Whitley St., Columbia City.

All individuals participating must register through the national website of Distinguished Young Woman. Attending the orientation is strongly suggested prior to registering on the national website.

Those eligible are all high school senior girls, graduating in 2014, who attend one of the county's high schools; high school senior girls who are home-schooled; those who are residents of Whitley County, but attend high school in another county; or those who attend high school in Whitley County, but are residents of another county.

The informational session will cover all the aspects of this local, state and national program.

Cash scholarships are awarded in the categories of panel interview, talent, scholastics, self-expression and fitness.
