Doris Pittenger, 92

Doris E. Fenker Pittenger, 92, a lifelong resident of Columbia Township, died at 10:07 a.m. Saturday, May 4, 2013, at Parkview Whitley Hospital where she was admitted on Friday.
She was born April 19, 1921, in Columbia Township a daughter of Elmer Franklin and Dessie Bell (Smith) Schrader. She attended the Schrader School House and graduated from Coesse High School.
On June 8, 1941, she was united in marriage to Edward C. Fenker. Mr. Fenker died July 28, 1996.
She worked at Whitley County Co-op Peabody Branch from 1957 until 1964 and served as Whitley County Drainage Clerk from 1965 until her retirement in 1982.
On Nov. 7, 2003 she was united in marriage to Talbert Wilmont Pittenger. Mr. Pittenger died February 1, 2013.
She was a member of Oak Grove Church of God, W.C.S.C., Oak Grove Senior Fellowship and Gideons Auxiliary.
Surviving relatives include five children, Dennis (Kathy) Fenker, Sharon (Dwight) Alexander, Karen (Jerry) Wigent, Shirley Law and Terry (Susan) Fenker, all of Columbia City; two stepdaughters, Rita (Bart) Toomey of Gainesville, Ga. and Sharon (Fred) Cearbaugh of Columbia City; a stepdaughter-in-law, Dianne Pittenger of Columbia City; 17 grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; 59 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren and a sister, Florence Keiser of Columbia City. In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Cletus, Russell and Rolland.
The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Oak Grove Church of God, 2426 S. Raber Rd., Columbia City, with visitation after 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church. The burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery. The visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City.
