Doris King, 86

Doris King, 86, a resident of Carmel and mother of Churubusco resident Jeanine Childs, passed away peacefully in her home at 1:30 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 14, 2011 following a lengthy illness.
Mrs. King was born Oct. 2, 1924 in Herrin, Ill. to the late James and Flora Armstrong Stubblefield.
Doris was a graduate of Asbury University and attended Asbury Theological Seminary, Wilmore, KY.
She was a dedicated pastor’s wife, and enjoyed flower gardening and taking care of her home and family.
Survivors include her husband, Rev. Jack T. King of Carmel; children, Dr. Jeanine (C. Gregory) Childs of Churubusco and Dr. Ted (Lisa) King of Oak Brook, Ill; grandchildren, Drew (Becca) Childs of Indianapolis, Joel (Brittany) Childs and Perry Childs, both of Huntington; and Eileen, Annie, Sarah and Emily King all of Oak Brook, Ill.
Family and friends will gather on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Carmel United Methodist Church, of which she was a member.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. with visitation one hour prior to the service in the church.
Burial will follow in Carmel Cemetery.
