Donna Vorce, 78

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. — Donna Jean Chappell Kern Vorce, 78, of Canandaigua, N.Y., died Saturday, Aug. 20, 2011 in Canandaigua where she resided since July 9, 2000.
She was born in Whitley County on Sept. 17, 1932, the daughter of the late Thomas E. Chappell and Ruth M. Bills.
He formative years were spent in Milton, Pa. where she graduated from Milton High School June 1950.
She married Lewis A. Kern Sr., on Dec. 23, 1950 in Milton and resided in Watsontown, Pa. The couple moved to Massena, N.Y. in 1953 and then to Norwood, N.Y. in 1955 where they lived for 30 years. Mr. Kern preceded her in death July 9, 1982.
Donna is survived by three sons, Tracy T. (Charlene) Kern, Victor, N.Y., Lewis A. (Cindy) Kern, Jr., Puyallup, Wash. and Brian H. Kern, Bluefield, W.V.; a daughter, Linda Anne (Michael) Marriam, Romulus, N.Y., four grandchildren, Lewis A. Kern III, Alexis M. Kern, Shannon M. Marriam Liggett and Kellen Marriam; and a step-grandchild, Claire Benson.
The eldest of 13 siblings, Donna is survived by a brother, William H. Chappell; four sisters, Barbara Voris, Dorothy Woolsey, Jo Ann Griffin, Connie Brady; and a half brother, Thomas Chappell. She is predeceased by two sisters, Carolyn James and Patricia Harvey; and five brothers, A. James Chappell, Ronald Chappell, Terry Chappell, Robert Chappell and Thomas E. Chappell Jr.
Donna married Glenford C. “Bud” Vorce on Aug. 5, 1989 in Norwood and has a step daughter, Priscilla A. Vorce of Norwood.
Bud died July 12, 1999.
She was an active member of the Norwood United Methodist Church for more than 40 years, where Donna leaves many dear friends and fond memories.
Donna loved people and easily formed many lasting relationships as she moved through life.
She loved her family, friends, church, flowers and gardening. She was a homemaker most of her married life.
Local services were held Tuesday at Fuller Funeral Home, Inc. 190 Buffalo St., Canandaigua.
Additional services will be held Thursday at the Shaw Funeral Home, 400 N. Front St. Milton from 6 to 7 p.m. with a 7 p.m. funeral service to follow.
