Dian Ruth Wrightsman, 59, of rural South Whitley, died at 2:56 a.m. Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at Saint Johnâ€™s Hospital, Anderson, where she was admitted Christmas Day while visiting family. She had been suffering from cancer.
She was born Oct. 23, 1953, in South Bend, the only child of James William and Evelyn (McClellan) Moore.Her formative years were spent in Albuquerque, N.M. and Daytona Beach, Fla. The family then returned to the Jimtown area.
She graduated from Osceola Brethren Christian School in 1971. She then attended Child Evangelism Institute, the Kentucky Mountain Bible College and Mt. Vernon Nazarene University.
On Aug. 17, 1974, she was united in marriage to Bruce Wayne Wrightsman. They made their home in Marion and then Columbia City moving to the South Whitley area in 1988.
She was a self employed crafts maker and was a member of the United Methodist Church of South Whitley. Dian loved teaching children Godâ€™s word. She was 15 years old when she began teaching at the Elkhart Northside Nazarene Church. She taught Sunday School for 40 years. Her passion was teaching children about Jesus and helping them memorize Godâ€™s Word.
She was always using her hands for something good such as gardening, making crafts for friends, cooking delicious meals and touching children and the elderly at her church. She had a deep, abiding faith in Jesus Christ who became her closest friend as a child.
She is survived by her husband, Bruce and her parents, William and Evelyn Moore, Bradenton, Fla. The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church of South Whitley, 6685 W. Ind. 14, South Whitley.
The visitation will be 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Smith and Sons Miller Chapel, South Whitley. Calling will also be one hour prior to the funeral service at the church.
