Devona Berg, 80

Devona J. Berg, 80, of Big Lake, passed away at 10:50 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, 2013, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. Born Aug. 24, 1933, in Etna Troy Township, she was the daughter of Chester K. Myers and Ruth (Shaffer) Myers-Hurd.
She is a lifetime resident of Whitley County and graduated from Columbia City High School with the Class of 1951. On Aug. 7, 1971, she married James C. Berg in Columbia City.
She worked at Bond Flex Rubber, Columbia City, with 15 years of service. Devona enjoyed collecting crystal figurines in her free time.
Surviving relatives include her husband, James C. Berg of Albion; daughter, Cheryl D. (Scott) States of Columbia City; son, Kim L. (Diana) Hare of Columbia City; stepdaughter, Karen Berg of Okala, Fla.; three stepsisters, Nancy Tepin of Fort Wayne, Ann Askren of Albion and Lana Murphy of Fort Wayne; stepbrother, Stanley Lason, Avilla; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and nine step-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Basil Myers; sister, Betty Bratt and daughter, Shelly L. Cramer.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Dr., Columbia City. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with Sharon Brockhaus, certified funeral celebrant, officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove (Compton) Cemetery.
