CRISIS AVERTED: Barn fire squelched

July 3, 2013

COLUMBIA CITY — Firefighters from three departments quickly put out a barn fire Tuesday night in southeast Whitley County.

A controlled burn got out of control, catching one wall of a barn on fire at approximately 10 p.m. at a property north of Ind. 14, between County Roads 500 East and 600 East.

Jefferson, Union and Washington Township Fire Departments quickly made the scene and managed to put the fire out before there was major damage.
