Crash kills baby, injures 4 children

NOBLE COUNTY — An 8-month-old boy was killed and four other children were injured in a vehicle accident Saturday.

According to area media, the car crashed into a tree near the Noble-Elkhart County line Saturday when the driver swerved to miss an animal that ran out into the road.

The driver, Angelica Ibarra, 39, of Ligonier, was cited for not having a license and other violations.

Police said Ibarra drove straight through a curve, slid sideways and struck a tree on the rear passenger side of the vehicle.

Ibarra was not injured, but Gael Ibarra, 8 months, died from his injuries.
