Crash claims life of local man; 7-year-old boy, mother taken to hospital

January 23, 2014

NOBLE COUNTY — A Noble County crash ended the life of a 33-year-old Columbia City man Wednesday night.

Poor road conditions were a likely factor in the collision, that happened after a car slid sideways on Ind. 205 and into another vehicle.

Many slide-offs and minor collisions were reported in Whitley County Wednesday night and Thursday morning, as a cell brought 1 to 2 inches of snow to the area, creating slick roads.

According to Indiana State Police Trooper Justin Snyder, at approximately 8:50 p.m., a Pontiac Sunfire, driven by John Coulson, of Gary, was traveling northbound on Ind. 205, just north of County Road 600 South, when the vehicle slid sideways and crossed the center line.
