IN COURT: Five-year sentence dished out in child sex case

COLUMBIA CITY— A man who had sex with a 14-year-old girl received a five-year prison sentence Monday.Bradley Kincaid, 21, will serve three of his five years in the Indiana Department of Corrections (DOC) and have the remaining two suspended.Kincaid’s attorney, Whitley County Public Defender Brad Voelz, said his client should receive a short sentence because of his admission of guilt early and remorse over his crime.“He’s maintained consistent employment, and has no relevant criminal history,” Voelz said.Whitley County Prosecutor Matt Rentschler said Kincaid’s remorse did not eliminate the need for a penalty.“What Mr. Kincaid did in this case was obviously wrong and obviously criminal,” he said. The prosecutor took exception with some of Kincaid’s testimony in the pre-sentence report. To read the rest of this story, see the Aug. 23 issue of The Post and Mail.
