IN COURT: Bocskey receives 12-years

June 21, 2013

COLUMBIA CITY — A Columbia City man who participated in two drug deals this past winter will serve a 12-year sentence at the state level.

Shane Bocskey, 26, pleaded guilty last month to one count of dealing methamphetamine. Bocskey was arrested with Derek Kohut in February after a drug deal at the Walmart parking lot.

Whitley County Circuit Court Judge James Heuer gave Bocskey a 12-year sentence to be served in the Indiana Department of Corrections, with all 12 years to be served.

Heuer said there were aggravating circumstances which caused him to go beyond the advisory 10-year sentence, including a history of other crimes. However, it was the nature of the crime that seemed unusual to the judge.
