IN COURT: 61-yr-old sentenced for prescription drug deal

March 18, 2014

COLUMBIA CITY — A man was involved in a prescription drug deal last summer received an eight-year sentence to the Whitley County Jail Monday.

Frank O. Hibbs, 61, pleaded guilty in February to one charge of dealing a Schedule I, II or III controlled-substance. He will serve six years of his sentence incarcerated, with the other two years of the sentence suspended.

Hibbs’ attorney, Al Anzini, said mitigating circumstances in favor of his client included his age and minimal criminal history.

Anzini also told the court Hibbs was put in a position where his wife had all of Hibbs’ disability money placed in her account. According to Anzini, this was part of the reason Hibbs made a prescription drug deal.
