COLUMBIA CITY — A five-and-a-half year veteran of owning fitness clubs, Amy Carpenter is no stranger to Whitley County.

Despite owning four area Anytime Fitness locations with her husband Pat, including the club in Columbia City, she has called Whitley County home for 24 years.

Carpenter is also a 1984 alumna of Churubusco High School.

She spoke with The Post and Mail about herself and what it means to her to be in the fitness business.

The Post & Mail: What inspired you to get into the fitness business?

Amy Carpenter: “We wanted to help people with their fitness needs and potentially save their lives.”

P&M: How is it working with your husband day in and day out?

AC: (Laughs) “Some days it’s great and some days it’s good. We have similar personalities and are driven people, so that can be challenging, but we are both passionate about doing the best job we can to help the most people with their health and fitness needs. We also have very different gifts, so we use those as best we can to develop staff and help members.”
