Conference match-ups fill weekend

With the holiday a little over one week away, area Indiana high school basketball teams are getting in their final games before break.

Tournaments and showcases fill the schedule for the last week of 2010 but Friday and Saturday serve as one of the final jam-packed weekends until the new year.
Adding to six games in two days between the six county teams, all come in important conference match-ups whether its in the Northeast Hoosier Conference, North East Corner Conference or Three Rivers Conference.
Friday night, boys’ basketball takes the stage in battles amongst conference foes. In one of two home games, Columbia City (3-1) hosts East Noble (2-2) in an NHC opener for both.
Churubusco (2-1) is at home as well against Prairie Heights (3-2) in a 2010 sectional rematch.
Whitko (4-1) is the lone road warrior at TRC rival Tippecanoe Valley (1-5).
All three games tip off with junior varsity action at roughly 6 p.m.
Girls’ basketball follows Saturday with Columbia City and Churubusco both hitting the road for 1 p.m. afternoon start times.
Columbia City (5-4) heads to winless East Noble (0-9) while ’Busco (2-8) makes the long trip to Prairie Heights (5-5).
In a night cap, a pair of 3-6 teams meet with Whitko hosting West Noble.
