COLUMBIA CITY — The Lady Eagles came out victorious Tuesday, hosting the Wawasee hoops team and winning 55-46.
Columbia City jumped out to an early 4-0 lead on the heels of a Kalisha Goree jumper and an Emily Whiteleather put-back from an offensive board.
The Lady Warriors bounced back with a trey from Kilee Knafel, one of her five 3-pointers on the evening.
Wawasee scored again to take a 5-4 lead.
Whitleather converted on an assist from Goree, who followed the helper with a jump shot to give the Lady Eagles an 8-5 lead before Macie Hinen added another two points.
Following a basket from Lady Warriors Elizabeth Jackson, Sidney Bunyan added two and Goree hit a jumper.
Goree then converted one of two from the free throw line to give Columbia City a 14-7 advantage.
The period ended with the Lady Eagles up 15-9.
Lady Eagle Sarah Opliger and Whitleather kicked off the second quarter with buckets to push the Columbia City lead to double-digits.
