COLUMBIA CITY — Columbia City’s volleyball team battled back, but its effort fell just short against Homestead.
The Lady Eagles fell in five games, 25-21, 25-20, 23-25, 17-25 and 15-13.
Although each game was competitive, Columbia City could have easily been deposited in three sets by the Lady Spartans. The score in game three was tied near the end, and Homestead was within points of putting away the hosts in a sweep.
However, the Lady Eagles rallied to take game 3, and then dominated with serving and held the advantage to take the fourth game as well.
“We did a nice job of coming back against a good team,” said Columbia City Head Volleyball Coach Trish Hinen.
Both squads battled hard in the fifth game. The lead was traded more than once, and the passion inside the gymnasium, from the fans and players, became increasingly feverish.
