Col. City, Whitko linksters drop out of state golf tourney

WINONA LAKE — Columbia City and Whitko’s girls golf teams saw their seasons end at an IHSAA golf sectional Saturday at Stonehenge Golf Club.

The Lady Eagles scored 425 for seventh place at the Lady Wildcats were at 10th place with 478.

The top three teams advanced to regionals. Those three squads were first-place Rochester, which shot a 349, second-place Northwood, which had a 351 and host-Warsaw with 369.

Columbia City was led by Macenzie Lane and Taylor Daniel, who both shot 98 over 18 holes. Cheyenne Johnson scored 113, and Bethany Yoder and Sidney VanMeter rounded out varsity scoring with 116 and 130, respectively.

Whitko was led by April Bishiop, who shot 102. Claire Reiff had 121, Kennedy Krull 124, Samantha Shell 131, and Elizabeth Gensch shot 141 for the Lady Wildcats.
