COLUMBIA CITY — Running a hard trap was enough to give Columbia City’s boys soccer team headaches Thursday.
Visiting Bellmont downed the Eagles 3-0 in the opening Northeast Hoosier Conference match for Columbia City. The Eagles are now 2-2 on the year and 0-1 in the NHC.
Eagle Boys Head Soccer Coach Matt Malless said Bellmont took advantage of its scheme, which he thought his team could handle.
“They came out in a style we thought we could exploit,” he said. “We have had success before against the hard trap, and they pushed it all night.”
Malless credited the Braves for sticking to their scheme.
