Col. City looking to rebound Friday

October 3, 2013

COLUMBIA CITY — Columbia City will be looking to rebound in the Northeast Hoosier Conference after a difficult loss last Friday.

Unfortunately for the Eagles, their opponents likely feel the same way. East Noble will travel to Columbia City Friday for a 7 p.m. kickoff.

After suffering numerous injuries, Columbia City fell victim to unbeaten New Haven, 29-7 last week.

East Noble, ranked 15th in Class 4A according to the Associated Press, was shocked by Norwell last Friday, 35-7. It was Norwell’s first win on the year and dropped East Noble to 4-2, 2-2 in the NHC.

Columbia City currently stands at 3-3, and 2-2 in the conference.

Last season, East Noble defeated the Eagles 79-7. The last win for Columbia City in the rivalry was a 56-55 shootout win in 2010 that ended up ensuring a share of the NHC title for the Eagles that season.

It is the seventh week of the football season, and many squads are banged up with injuries. Columbia seems particularly nagged, as eight starters missed last week’s game against New Haven.
