SOUTH WHITLEY — With seven township residents vying for the Cleveland Township trustee position, James Yeager was declared the winner at Tuesday night’s caucus.

Although Yeager is the newest trustee, not many changes are on the horizon for the township.

“There isn’t anything I want to change right now,” Yeager said. “I need to learn what this position actually does and what I can and can’t do first. I think for the meantime it is going to be business as usual.”

The trustee position became available as former trustee Roland King resigned from the responsibility effective Monday. King’s resignation was part of a plea agreement made for three felony official misconduct charges deriving from his trustee job.

“It’s unfortunate that these are the circumstances that bring us here,” Yeager said. “I am good friends with Ron. I know his family. It’s a real shame what’s happened to him, but I guess that is in the past and we are moving forward.”

Yeager, a long-time resident of Cleveland Township, already has his hand in many community activities and sits on several boards.
