City volleyball season ends

October 18, 2012

FORT WAYNE — The Columbia City Lady Eagle volleyball team’s season came to an end Wednesday night at the hands of the Fort Wayne Snider Lady Panthers in the opening round of IHSAA Sectional play.

The Eagles fell by a 25-12, 25-21, 25-22 score in a match that turned very competitive after the first game.

“We just made some mental errors tonight, we were late getting to the pass, late getting to the set,” said Hinen. “When we ran out offense we did well, but we had a lot of passes we didn’t utilize, a lot of sets we didn’t get to. Our back row did a great job, because we were just getting hammered all night, because we had virtually no blocking at the net.”

Hinen singled out the lone senior on the team, Alivia Roberts for her leadership, and mentioned that the rest of the Eagles return for next year, including first team All-NHC players Gabrielle Hazen and Kalisha Goree, who both recorded eight kills for the Eagles and Honorable Mention All-NHC libero Macie Hinen.

The Eagles end the season with a 21-8 record.
