City swimming gets pair of wins

BLUFFTON — The wins keep coming for Columbia City swimming.

Back on the road this week, the City swimmers traveled to Bluffton coming away with two victories. The Lady Eagles topped the Lady Tigers 100-83 while the boys’ won 104-82.
Six wins in all helped the girls squad on their way to victory.
Two Lady Eagles grabbed multiple wins on the evening.
Jena Bosselman took to the pool for her two usual events winning both the 100-meter breaststroke and 200 individual medley.
Mandi Wright led the freestyle events for the Lady Eagles with wins in the 200 and 500 races.
Columbia City took the top two spots in the diving competition with Audrey Gruettert winning and Adriana Brown placing second.
Libby Bower was the top swimmer in the 100 backstroke.
Other notable finishers for the Lady Eagles were: Holly Kyler second in the 100 and 200 freestyle and third in the 50 free; Kristin Hershberger third in the 200 IM; Anna Lawrence third in the 500 free; Maddison Hodges second in the 100 backstroke and Anneke Vanstraten third in the 100 breaststroke.
The boys team was led by Cole Smith and Kevin Hershberger multiple win night. Smith took the 50 free along with the 100.
Hershberger got his wins in the 100 breaststroke and 200 IM.
Other notable finishers were: Kyle Mertz second in the 200 free, Devin Moore second in the 100 butterfly and backstroke, Tanner Daniel first in the 500 free, Justin Moss second in the 100 free.
