COLUMBIA CITY â€” Though Columbia Cityâ€™s boys and girls swim teams didnâ€™t have a state-title, stand-out season â€” there was much to highlight about the small squadâ€™s performance this year.
Eagle head coach Kristen Swonger, who is stepping down after this season, said every swimmer broke their personal record at least once, and some swam new events for the first time.
With only 11 girls and 12 boys on the team, winning many meets posed big challenge for the Eagles.
â€śWe had no idea what was going to happen,â€ť Swonger said.
But Columbia City persevered, winning a combined 11 meets and an overall 11-10 record for both teams.
â€śIt turned out better than Iâ€™d expected,â€ť Swonger said.
