COLUMBIA CITY — Columbia City took the first step in expanding its property Tuesday.
The city’s Board of Works and Public Safety unanimously approved making an offer on a house adjacent to City Hall at 210 W. Market St.
Mayor Ryan Daniel said he and Clerk-Treasurer Rosie Coyle have been researching property purchase for the city for some time.
“We are running out of space,” he said, referring to storage at City Hall and parking throughout downtown.
Board members approved the city’s offer of $51,500 for the purchase of the property. Coyle explained that was the highest price that could be offered.
“Our offer cannot be greater than the average of two (property) appraisals,” she said.
