COLUMBIA CITY — Officials approved Columbia City’s first one-way roadway at last week’s City Council meeting.
While there are no one-way streets within the city limits, there is soon to be a one-way alley, located near Eagle Tech Academy, on North Walnut Street.
Officials discussed the topic when school started in August. With more and more students attending ETA every year, the increased traffic at the school has posed some concerns.
“We’ve had complaints of some close-calls,” Columbia City Police Chief Tim Longenbaugh said. “As time goes on, there’s been more people at the school using the alley.”
The alley runs between Walnut and Elm Streets. For some time, the alley has been marked “one-way” but it wasn’t defined in the city’s ordinance.
