Churubusco wins with last-second play

October 6, 2012

GOSHEN — The clock has six seconds in the fourth quarter. ’Busco has a third down with five and goal. The score stands at 23-21 with Fairfield leading.

The fans scream from both sides. The snap goes. Junior Cody Conwell makes a breakaway, pushing a defender out of his way. And then, the visiting crowd erupts, somehow louder than before — Eagles top the Falcons, 29-23.

The Eagles will spend the week preparing for next Fridays’ game against what Etzler said is another long time rival, Lakeland.
