Churubusco falls to Oak Hill; preps for Carroll

April 6, 2012

CHURUBUSCO — Churubusco’s baseball team traveled to Oak Hill and lost Thursday night, 5-0.

With several players out on spring break, Eagle Head Coach Mark Grove said the team was short-handed.

“Much of the team wasn’t in town,” Grove said. “That should also make it tough tonight when we travel to Carroll.”

Carroll has won several state baseball titles in the last five years.

Oak Hill picked up its five runs gradually throughout the game, with one in the first inning, one in the second, one in the fourth and two in the fifth.

The home team had three hits on its five runs and no errors.

The Eagles had four hits, however committed eight errors.

Brent Simmons pitched the first five innings for Churubusco, giving up five runs.

Erik Bixer closed for the Eagles, finishing off the game with no hits and no runs.
