Charles Burelison, 81

Charles E. Burelison, 81, of Columbia City, passed away at 4:50 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012, at his home. Born April 20, 1931, in Eaton, he was the son of Elmer Virgil “Jack” and Lillian Esther (Mumaugh) Burelison.

He attended Northside High School, Fort Wayne and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. On July 14, 1951, he married Barbara A. Middleton at Concordia Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne and they have always lived in Whitley County. For 35 years he worked at Dana Corporation, Churubusco.

Surviving relatives include his wife of 61 years, Barbara A. Burelison of Columbia City; four children, Garry A. Burelison of Columbia City, Christine Green of South Whitley, Robin (Barry) Hively of Columbia City and Timothy (Mary) Burelison of Pierceton; two sisters, Iola Hanuer of Fort Wayne and Nina (Paul) Price of Columbia City; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Pamela R. Burelison-Sparks; brother, Richard Burelison; sister, Barbara J. DeFlon and infant sister, Vina Burelison.

A memorial service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. with one hour of calling after 1 p.m. at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Dr., Columbia City. Pastor Curtiss Johnson will be officiating. The burial will be at South Park (Annex) Cemetery, Columbia City.
