Cathy Bewak, 71, passed away Thursday, July 17, 2014, at the Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home in Fort Wayne.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John Robert and Madelyn Walter, and her companion, Preston Stackhouse.
Surviving are her children, Christy (Dave) Roberts of Brighton, Mich., Todd (Susie) Neff of Decatur, and brother, Larry (Becky) Walter of Columbia City.
Cathy began her schooling at Mary Raber, but as the child of a well-known coach, she lived throughout Northeastern Indiana. She graduated from North Side High School in 1961. She was employed at North American Van Lines as a logistics specialist until her retirement. After retiring, Cathy worked at what she loved, helping the clients at Easter Seals ARC of NE Indiana.
In 1997, she was reunited with her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Preston â€śStackâ€ť Stackhouse until his death in 2010. Cathy was the loving grandmother of two grandsons, Zac and Hunter Roberts. She also had nine nieces and nephews, and eight great-nieces and nephews.
She loved to garden, spend time with her family, and enjoyed long, loyal friendships with the people she met throughout her life. She was known for her kindness, compassion, and care-giving.
A memorial service will take place at noon Thursday, Aug. 7, at Feller and Clark Funeral Home, 1860 Center St., Auburn.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6, and from 11 a.m. to noon Thursday, Aug. 7, prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be directed to Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home of Fort Wayne and Easter Seals ARC of NE Indiana.
