Carzella Grizzle, 94, of Columbia City, passed away at 11:25 p.m. Monday, Jan. 6, 2014, at Parkview Whitley Hospital.
Born April 9, 1919, in Turtletown, Tenn., she was the daughter of Poley and Maggie Wilcox.
She moved from Kentucky in 1965 to Whitley County and had been a resident at Millerâ€™s Merry Manner since 2007. She enjoyed reading her bible, watching religious shows on TV, listening to country music, playing her harmonica and taking care of her parrot, Norman.
Local survivors include her granddaughter, Mary (Tom) Young of Columbia City; great-grandchildren, Tiffeny (Ryan) Rupert, Christina (Shaun) Jones and Britteny Young, all of Columbia City; and seven great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her children, Nancy Boyett of Cleveland, Tenn., Margaret Long of Brevard, N.C., Ann Kirby of Calhoun, Ga., Helen Gagnon of Massachusetts and Clinton Allison of Ozone, Ark.; sister, Mary Pickelsimer of Cleveland, Tenn.; numerous other grandchildren, great-grandchild and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Judd Grizzle; sons, Bud and Herman Allison; brother, Fred Wilcox; long-time companion, Clarence Kilburn; and an infant child and grandbaby.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 N. Countryside Drive, Columbia City, with calling an hour prior. A private burial will follow at South Park Annex Cemetery.
