Carroll pummels Col. City, 56-0

HUNTERTOWN — With University of Notre Dame scouts in the stands, the Carroll Chargers used the visiting Columbia City Eagle football squad as a backdrop for an offensive showcase, handing the Eagles a 56-0 Northeast Hoosier Conference beating.

“They (Carroll) played with great intensity,” said Columbia City Head Coach Randy Hudgins, “And we did not match that intensity.”

The Chargers took the opening kickoff and marched 75 yards in eight plays.

Junior running back Justin Tranquill took the ball in for the score from 11 yards out with 9:36 left in the first quarter.

The Eagles looked be competitive on their first play from scrimmage, when quarterback Trevor Bolt connected with Wayne Smith for a 40-yard gain down to the Charger 41.
