Carolyn Jones, 89

Carolyn J. Jones, 89, of Columbia City, died at 8:17 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013, at Parkview Whitley Hospital. She was born July 19, 1924, in Kendallville, a daughter of Cyril G. and Audrey M. (Lawson) Kollman.
She grew up in Avilla until the late 1930s when the family moved to New Haven. She graduated from New Haven High School in 1943.
She was employed at Lincoln Life Insurance for 25 years, retiring in 1979. After retirement, she worked at the Otis Bowen Center for six years.
In 1975, she was united in marriage to Kenneth E. Jones. They made their home at Old Lake until the early 1990s when they moved to Columbia City.
Her memberships include Eagle Quest Church and American Legion Post #240 Auxiliary in Avilla.
Surviving relatives include her husband, Ken; two daughters, Sharon S. Bowman of Milwaukee, Wisc. and Mickey Ann (Michael M.) Davis of Roanoke; two sons, Owen B. (Kay L.) Craig Jr. and J. Mark (Linda L.) Craig, both of Columbia City; three stepdaughters, Donna M. Davis of Phoenix, Ariz., Constance L. Marshall of Mesa, Ariz. and Sarah E. Rider of Columbia City; 16 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Owen B. Craig and her sister, Sue Wyss.
The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. The burial will be in Nolt Cemetery. The visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Preferred memorials are to Eagle Quest Church.
