CANDIDATE CONSIDERATION: WCCS board reviewing replacements

July 26, 2013

COLUMBIA CITY — Whitley County Consolidated Schools will soon go about the task of selecting a new school board member.

Chris Bechtold was elected in 2010 and took office in 2011. He announced his resignation, effective Aug. 5, because he will be taking a teaching position at Eagle Tech Academy. Board members are not permitted to hold teaching positions.

To fill the vacancy, the school board has asked for those interested to submit their interest, in writing, to the superintendent.

A decision will then be made at the Aug. 5 meeting. The board will vote in a new member, who will be in office until Dec. 31, 2014, at which point that individual will be up for re-election, according to WCCS board by-law 0142.3.
