Camp Whitley honored its third and final week leaders Saturday. A nasty storm forced the campers and staff of Camp Whitley into the basement of the kitchen early Tuesday morning. After the storm, camp had beautiful weather for games, swimming and fireworks for the week of July Fourth. During the week, Indiana State Police Trooper Brian Bills stopped by to review gun safety, Columbia City Police Master Patrolman Tim Pittenger and his dog Stryker stopped by in the middle of the week for a K9 demonstration, and Indiana Conservation Officer Darren Reed reviewed boat safety for the campers. The Columbia City Rotary Club provided the campers with Pizza Hut Tuesday night. On Friday morning, the Leatherneck Coffee Club prepared a special Fourth of July breakfast for the campers.
