’Busco wins county golf match

COLUMBIA CITY —Churubusco won Whitley County’s golf match Tuesday at Eagle Glen, beating Columbia City by seven strokes and Whitko by 52.

’Busco’s Brad Martin was the medalist, shooting a 42 in the front nine of the par 32 course. Danny Zawlocki of Whitko wasn’t far behind, finishing with a 44, the best for the ’Cats and good for second overall.

Four Whitley Countly linksters shot a 45 —two from Columbia City and two from Churubusco.

Beau Barkley and Ryan Mayer of ’Busco and Max Dryer and Dustin Parrett of Columbia City all finished with 45s. Columbia City’s Drew Burnsworth and Churubusco’s Brandon Norris shot 47s.

Derek Philbee of Col. City got a 49, followed by teammate Trent Murphy with a 52. Whitko’s remaining three golfers finished off the varsity match ­— Colton LeTourneau (59), Zach Olinske (62) and Cole Bechtold (66).

Columbia City won the junior varsity match, led by Tanner Daniel, who shot a 47.

Columbia City is back in action Thursday, hosting Norwell. Churubusco hosts Leo tonight and Whitko faces Southwood at home Thursday.
