CHURUBUSCO — Churubusco will be represented by two throwers in the track and field state competition held in Bloomington today and Saturday.

Senior Katie Monk is competing in girls discus after advancing out of regionals with a throw of 128 feet, 6 inches.

Senior Austin McClure will return to the state meet after claiming the regional championship in shot put with a heave of 51 feet, 9 inches.

Monk and McClure were sent off by Churubusco Assistant Athletic Director Paul Sade, along with senior and junior high school students, faculty and staff in the school gymnasium Thursday at noon.

“It’s awesome getting to go down to state for a second time and have another shot,” said McClure. “I’m feeling a lot better this time around. I think I’ve got a chance to make it to the finals, maybe even placing.”
