CHURUBUSCO — The Churubusco Lady Eagle volleyball team opened a new season, hosting the Leo Lady Lions in Tuesday night’s non-conference match up.

The Lady Eagles shook off first game jitters, but despite putting up an increasingly competitive fight as the evening went on, the host fell in three games 25-13, 25-19 and 27-25 to open the season.

“We really feel like we progressed as the evening went on,” said Churubusco Head Coach Trinda Goings. “We definitely competed as a team. We had some early jitters, and lack of communication kept us from scoring like we wanted in that first game.”

The Lady Eagles return to action on Thursday when they travel to Garret for a match with the Lady Railroaders.
