Bobby Ray Turner, 67, of Oklahoma City, Okla., passed away at 7:40 p.m. Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at Warr Acres, Oklahoma City. Born April 30, 1945, in Wolf Lake, he was the son of Robert Turner and Mildred Elizabeth (Fletcher) Turner.
He graduated from Wolf Lake High School with the Class of 1963 and served in the U.S. Army from 1963 to 1966. After moving away from Columbia City, he lived in Georgia and Oklahoma. He was a diesel mechanic in Georgia and Oklahoma for more than 40 years. He was a member of the Church of Christ and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Surviving relatives include his daughter, Lisa Ann (Joel) Whitfield of Athens, Ga.; son, John Scott Turner of Oklahoma City; sisters, Danna (Jerome) Wellman of Churubusco, Connie L. Rathke of Columbia City, Judy (Lewis) Mullins of Columbia City and Kay (Paul) Deem of Columbia City; brother, Terry Turner of Oklahoma City; and grandson, Daine Turner. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Dr., Columbia City. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with Neal Noey of Lincolnway Church of Christ officiating. Burial will follow at Wolf Lake Cemetery.
