COLUMBIA CITY — Work will soon begin on the expansion project for the Blue River Trail in Columbia City.
The city’s Board of Works and Public Safety approved a $34,500 bid from Niblock to begin another phase of the trail’s expansion, which will extend it from Main Street to Line Street.
The trail’s route will cover approximately two city blocks via Vine Street.
The city received three bids for the project, with Niblock’s being the lowest. It was requested of the contract company that work be completed by the end of September, 2013.
“This has been one of my pet projects for this year,” said Mayor Ryan Daniel.
Daniel said the plan is to eventually have the trail connect Morsches Park to DeVol Field.
