Beverly J. Whiting, 80, of Columbia City, passed away at 8:52 am Friday, Jan. 24, 2014, at Millerâ€™s Merry Manor in Columbia City. Born Aug. 23, 1933, in Frankfort, she was the daughter of Lester G. and Helen Lewellyn.
She graduated from Knox High School and Sept. 15, 1950, she married Raymond E. Whiting.
In 1968, she and Ray moved to LaGrange before moving to Columbia City in June of 1973. She had worked at the LaGrange and Whitley County Courthouses and the Whitley County License Branch. She had been a member of the Professional Business Women in LaGrange.
She enjoyed fishing with Ray, spending time with her family, her grandchildren, and great-granddaughters.
Surviving relatives include her daughters, Judy (Jack) Moore of Columbia City and Jackie (Wayne) Stubbs of Elkhart; grandchildren, Nicole Moore, Matt (Anna) Moore, Scott (Bridget) Moore, Marcus Moore, Nick Stubbs and Alec Stubbs; great-granddaughters, Makenna and Mya Moore; and sister, Lois Kent of Fort Wayne.
She was preceded in death by her husband April 17, 2013, Ray; parents, Lester and Helen Lewellyn; and brothers, Gilbert and John Lewellyn.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 10 to noon at DeMoney-Grimes Countryside Park Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City, with her service starting at noon. Rev. Thomas Beers will be officiating. Burial will be at South Park Annex at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made in memory of Mrs. Whiting to Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana.
