Baseball sectionals unveiled

May 14, 2013

Sectional pairings for baseball have been released by the Indiana High School Athletic Association.

Columbia City will play in the seven-team Class 4A Sectional 5 to be held at Carroll. The Eagle's first-round opponent will be DeKalb.

This contest will be a rematch of the April 30 game at DeKalb that Columbia City won 7-4. Columbia City also ended DeKalb's sectional run last year in the second round at DeKalb.

If the Eagles move on, they will play the winner of the Snider-East Noble first round game.

On the other side of the sectional bracket are Northrop, North Side and Carroll.

Whitko will compete in Class 3A Sectional 23 at Bellmont. The Wildcats had the fortune of drawing a first-round bye in this six-team bracket. They will play Eastbrook in the second round.

Moving past Eastbrook would put Whitko in the sectional championship game against either Mississinewa, Heritage, Norwell, or Bellmont.

Churubusco will also skip round one of their sectional. In Class 2A Sectional 36 hosted by Bishop Luers, the Eagles will face Adams Central in the second round.

Rounding out this sectional are South Adams, Bishop Luers, Eastside and Bluffton.
