COLUMBIA CITY — Columbia City High School Intern Program recently celebrated a milestone.

The program, ran by Coordinator Judy Moore, has been helping students decide their future plans for the past 15 years.

A banquet was held at Parkview Whitley Hospital to honor the businesses that participate in the ICE program as well as some of the businesses that have been with the Intern Program since its inception.

The ICE Program, in existence for more than 20 years, is designed for students that have jobs and want to work during half of the school day. Jeff Clark is the teacher and coordinator of the class.

“The students receive two credits for the work experience and one credit for the class,” Clark noted.

The ICE Program is a three-trimester class where students attend school for the first half of the day then leave to go work for the rest of the afternoon.

“They must complete 15-hour work weeks, but most of them work more,” Clark said.

Clark noted at the banquet that they were very thankful for the businesses that are involved in the program.
