COLUMBIA CITY — A few weeks ago, April 8 to be exact, Whitley County resident and long-time farmer, Bill Barney observed his 90th birthday — that in itself is worth celebrating.

As a soldier in his early 20s, Barney was one of nine crewmen who participated in the Nagasaki mission.
Today, he is the only surviving member of the nine- man crew.
