Area gridders compete in memorial meet

March 27, 2013

COLUMBIA CITY — The 2nd Annual Tyler Andreas Memorial Strength Meet was held March 16 at Little Turtle Elementary School in Columbia City.

The event involved football players from Churubusco, Columbia City and Whitko, who competed in several football-related drills, including the back squat, bench press and agility test.

Thirty-nine athletes overall took part in the event — which celebrates the dedication and warrior spirit of Tyler Andreas — while raising money for the scholarship named in his honor.

Andreas died unexpectedly at Shriner Lake during the summer before his senior year.
