Albert Curless, 96, of Columbia City, died at 10:50 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at Parkview Whitley Hospital where he was admitted earlier in the day.
He was born Nov. 25, 1917, in Wabash County to Earl and Grace (McKinley) Curless. He grew up in Wabash County, and later moved to the Arcola area where he graduated from Arcola High School. In 1936 he moved to the Columbia City area.
He was united in marriage to Margaret E. Roemer Dec. 24, 1937. They made their home at Goose Lake for 10 years, moving to their home in Columbia City in 1979.
He retired from Monsanto Company in Ligonier with 15 years of service. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Marge; three sons, Gene A. (Karen) Curless of Punta Gorda, Fla., Robert A. Curless of Martinsville and Danny J. (Deborah) Curless of Columbia City; a daughter, Joyce E. Curless of Indianapolis; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.
The graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday at Covington Memorial Gardens in Fort Wayne. There will be no public visitation.
Memorials may be made to Grace Lutheran Church.
